Plug-in "ringtone" music editor

Postby floe304 »
first and fore most i really like and enjoy mediamonkey. i just started to use it, so i am still learning all the features. but my wishlist is a plug-in music (ringtone) editor.
there is open source programs like Audacity.sourceforge.net which enables you to take a section of a song and make a ringtone from it. Audacity does have a wide range of customizing and editing, but it can be confusing with all the features it has. at least Audacity is open source also. i was wondering if someone with the ability to make plug-ins can make a Audacity Plug-in for MediaMonkey that is very simple to use. also that supports all standards like Qcelp (QCP) and other cell phone provider standards. also maybe with a send to phone feature.
i am with verizon and i know that i am limited to 30sec, 22050 Hz, at any compatible bit rate or less for MP3s. which when saving as a ringtone auto converts to Qcelp format. sometimes the bass distorts the quality. as far as maximum length, sample rate, bite rate, etc... for Qcelp format ringtones it is unknown to me.

you see you said the trouble in your statement.
compati... format. each phone makes its own format or uses one of several that can be used by certain phones.
so finding a plugin that creates ring tones for each phone is going to be hard. its going to take them a long time to code such a plugin that it might be too much for a free one and nobody likes to take 3 or more months of work on free plugin.
best to just find the one your phone manufacture says to use. or one that is made to work with your phone and a few others that is offered for free. there are several online converters as you found but there are also a few programs that can be used with several phones, like

Mediamonkey can already convert from one format to another i dont see why a simple ringtone maker even if it was only for current formats it can convert too

Hi,
Scripting a solution would be relatively easy, but ultimately it depends on there being sufficient demand to warrant someone investing the time in developing it.
